ALASTAIR TAIT (AL)
Captain
Alastair was born it the UK and has been sailing all his life. He taught sailing in Devon, England before heading to the West Indies in 1986 to work aboard a busy charter yacht. Alastair has worked in many areas of the industry, all over the world from the Arctic to the pacific incorporating many Atlantic crossings, Caribbean and Mediterranean seasons and even as a helicopter pilot a board a motor yacht. Alastair Holds a Master class 4:3000grt. He joined Ranger as Captain in December 2007.SIMON HILL (BOONG)
1ST Mate
Simon grew up in Sydney, Australia and started sailing at a young age, progressing through dinghy classes, both teaching and racing. He moved onto larger yachts in 2001 and has sailed the Pacific, Mediterranean, Caribbean and US as Mate and Captain. Simon also has many Atlantic Crossings under his belt and holds an RYA yacht Masters, he joined Ranger as mate in December 2007.Mark O’Brian (Maak)
Engineer
Mark Hails from Lake Maquarie, Australia where hew had his first taste of sailing. After learning to sail there he moved to the open sea and bigger and better things. He has worked as engineer on several large sailing yachts from 50 meter Perini navi’s to 40 meter classics. Mark joined Ranger in June 2008.SCOTT CAVANOUGH (The Ferret)
Bosun
Scott is from Brisbane, Australia. After learning to sail when he was a young boy he moved quickly though the dingy classes in Australia before stepping into offshore yacht racing at 17. After finishing school Scott worked for a rigger company in Brisbane for over 5 years. He then moved to the Mediterranean were he worked on a Wally 107. He holds an RYA yacht Masters .Joined Ranger in February 2007.TRACY BRIDGES (Racy)
Chief Stewardess
Tracy was born in Berkshire in the UK. She discovered sailing in the Mediterranean were she joined a 92 foot yacht for over 2 years before going to New Zealand to set up a provisioning business for the two America’s Cups that were held there. She then joined a large modern classic racing in Antigua, the tall ships race and also the transatlantic challenge until joining Ranger in June 2007.AMY MOULOS (Mouse)
Chef
Amy is from Sydney Australia and completed her apprenticeship there. Cooking commercially in a variety of top Sydney restaurants such as the two hatted Flying fish and Pilu at Freshwater. From here she traveled to Europe to further her culinary skills and joined Ranger in June 2009.HARRY PORTER (The Hamster)
Deckhand
Harry Joined Ranger in 2008. He is from Hampshire, England and has been sailing for many years. He taught sailing in Devon, England before working on larger yachts racing and cruising in the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Harry has done many deliveries and Atlantic crossings and worked aboard a Swan 60 before joining Ranger in January 2008.LAURA McMAUNS (Loza)
2nd Stewardess
Laura was born on Mallorca to an English mother and Spanish father and was brought up there, as a result Laura is bi-lingual in English and Spanish. She spent much of her time working on the many yachts there Palma and before long secured a chief Stewardess position on a Swan 112 where she spent a year and a half before joining Ranger in January 2008.
